On May 11, 2016 Bernie had surgery at Morristown Memorial Hospital to remove fluid around her heart. She was also going to have a drain put in to relieve the fluid build up around her lungs.

On May 12, 2016, we celebrated Bernie’s 56 birthday in the hospital.

On May 14, 2016, Bernie passed away, leaving a really big hole in a lot of people’s hearts.

We still remember her, through her children, her students who have successfully built wonderful careers and families, and through the foundation that bears her name.

We miss and love you so much.
